With only 61 days to go, time is going rather fast!! Last week we applied for our Burundian visas, and have them back already all approved, which is very exciting!! We have had most of our vaccinations now, apart from Rabies which is due over the next few weeks.
Since our last blog, we have been so busy and have been hugely blessed again by individuals and organisations. Firstly the Ambulance conversion (exterior anyway!) is nearing completion, with only a few more jobs to do on that part. The blue light bar was fitted yesterday, and the remaining Emergency lighting is being fitted over the rest of the week. Nearer to the end of this month, we will be fitting the rest of the interior/exterior and buying the remaining parts required!! Very exciting. We are keeping the photos off Facebook/the website, and our blog at the moment because the Ambulance will be unveiled to Hellen from Lina Medical Health Services sometime in March when she is due to visit the UK hence there are no photos.
If anybody would like to sponsor me for the 400 mile bike ride I am taking part in, I now have a JustGiving page for the Tour du Burundi, which is at www.justgiving.com/faulknersinafrica. More information is available about the ride, and who we will be donating the money to can be found here: http://www.faulknersinafrica.co.uk/#!tour-du-burundi/c1rbn
On 12th Jan, we spoke at our church - Woodlands Church in Bristol. Christophe Blanc and Isabelle Neill produced an amazing video for us, giving an overview of our trip and summarising a lot in a short space of time!
Here's the video;
Here are a few of the amazing blessings and answers to prayer we have had over the past 4 weeks:
- We have just been given £1500 for shipping the ambulance, which covers the vast majority of the costs (total of £2500 approx.)
- Anonomous donation to cover our Malaria medication, Deet spray and mosquito nets for a whole year! We will be using Malarone, which offers us the best protection from Malaria, although among the most expensive.
- Bristol Ambulance EMS - http://www.bristolambulance.co.uk have very kindly assisted us in providing FREE training for us which is a huge blessing, and is certainly one less thing to worry about!!
Things we still need support with are:
- Raising the final £1000 for the 'actual shipping' and inspection of the Ambulance
- Sponsorship for the Tour du Burundi bike ride Andy is doing……we need to raise £3000 in total and currently are on approx. £400, but completely believe God is going to make up the difference.
- Prayer against attack…..this week we had some discouraging news regarding sponsorship but God is challenging us to keep our hearts pure. Hannah was in a car accident on the way home from a night shift. She fell asleep at the wheel and technically should have been badly injured, but by the grace of God is unscathed, with no one else involved. The only damage to her car was two burst tyres on the right-hand side of the car and dented wheel rims, meaning the wheels on the left-hand side were off the ground at one point. Andy came to the rescue…..slightly unamused, after being awoken post night shift and now we are both unwell. In the words of Hannah, 'Satan is a wiener'……but we know he will not prevail.
- Prayer for continued networking with people who want to make God's vision for Burundi and Nairobi their own.
- Prayer that we will get the Ambulance completed by the beginning of March 2014, with the help of others (SV Lights, Daryl Sothcott, Andy's Dad).
Thank you for your ongoing support and for following us.
GOD BLESS!
Love Andy & Hannah x
